On-Site Rapid Improvement Event Implementation for Healthcare |
|
Rapid Improvement events are the mechanism by which process improvement is implemented in a Lean Sigma healthcare system. Rapid Improvement events are designed
for a week of rapid implementation after the value stream mapping phase is complete and changes with a high impact have been
identified and carefully studied. The rapid implementation format for Rapid Improvement events are based on the simple premise that a ‘periodic
meetings’ approach to process improvement does not work. Rapid Improvement event tasks are assumed to be due at the end of the week, or within
90 days following the event. A Lean Program Manager will meet with your company 1-2 weeks prior to the rapid improvment event to determine scope,
area, team members, etc. and return 30 to 45 days after the event to determine whether the goals of the rapid improvement event were met.
An A3 report is then created, using the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) process to summarize the event.
